Special Update 4-7-2014: Two More Eggs have appeared in the North Plaza! Be sure to check them out and add them to your list if you are partipating in the hunt! See Below!
Walk to the south end of the Flatiron Public Plazas for the opportunity to view a real treat in the form of four giant Faberge eggs, and participate in an Easter Egg hunt for the ages! It’s the Flatiron District’s part of an exciting spectacle to help raise funds for the worthy Elephant Family and Studio in a School.
The NYC DOT, as part of its excellent Urban Art Program, is collaborating with the exciting Faberge Big Egg Hunt. It’s all part of a funky-and-fun fundraising initiative whereby 260 large egg sculptures are going to be exhibited across the city. The “Faberge-style” eggs, designed by a cornucopia of top international artists in a bewildering and dazzling array of styles, are going to be out on display in neighborhoods across NYC — and of course, Flatiron gets four eggs — make sure you check out the pics here, and click on the video that one of our intrepid reporters just shot out by the Flatiron Building itself.
For those interested in participating in the hunt, download a special IPhone App and find all the eggs and scan their bar codes. Find (and scan) all the eggs, and you may be eligible to win prizes from Faberge. The big hunt will culminate in a spectacular auction of the egg sculptures at Sotheby’s and on-line at Paddle8 on April 22nd.
Check out the web site, www.thebigegghunt.org, for all the information you need to participate, and make sure you use the hashtag #thebigegghuntny and the numbers of the eggs you show if you share on Facebook and Twitter. Happy hunting!
