Given the diversity of NYC’s landscape and attractions, there is bound to be something for everyone to enjoy. Whether you want to spend a day in the park or take in the view near the water, the Flatiron and Chelsea areas provide excellent spots for outdoor summer fun.
Madison Square Park: Featuring a Shake Shack restaurant and plenty of room to lounge and enjoy the weather, Madison Square Park is just a few blocks away from NYCSCC and provides wonderful views of the Flatiron Building. There’s also a safe dog run for your canine friends and a playground for the kids. In July, there will be a variety of kids’ performances, such as Bari Koral, The Dirty Sock Funtime Band, and Alex & The Kaleidoscope Band.
High Line Park: Located on top of a formerly abandoned, elevated railroad track, the High Line frequently features evening music and dancing events. No matter what time of day you go, you’re guaranteed to enjoy an unbelievable view of the city. The park also features numerous walking tours, and on Tuesday nights, you can stargaze with members of the Amateur Astronomers Association.
Historic Chelsea: Sometimes just wandering the streets of New York City can be its own activity, especially when you take a stroll through the Chelsea Historic District. Spanning 20th and 22nd Streets and 8th to 10th Avenues, there are numerous architectural styles to appreciate during both the day and the evening.
Union Square: A beautiful area with plenty to offer, Union Square is home to numerous shops and restaurants. Summer in the Square runs from June 12th through August 7th, and features yoga classes, children’s marionette performances, lunchtime jazz concerts, and dance classes.
