A late Sunday afternoon stroll through Madison Square Park often reveals unexpected pleasures. One never knows when one might leave the familiar confines of New York City and the Flatiron District and be transported, as if by magic, to some exotic foreign clime. In this case, it was an exciting exhibition of the best of Thai culture via the “Experience Thailand” event, in the form of excellent food, dance and authentic Thai music. With a series of pavilions set up offering Thai food, gifts, artifacts, objets d’arte and useful travel information, a nice crowd was in attendance inspecting the wares, and also watching a terrific dance performance by some Thai performers up on a temporary stage for all to see. Thai officials were on hand to introduce the performers, and give some useful cultural and historical background and context for the crowd. Check out these pix and a quick video clip from the Flatiron Hot! staffer who was on the scene.
