Flatiron Hot! News blog, working together with corporate sponsor NYC Seminar & Conference Center (NYCSCC), a leading “value” technology conference facility straddling both the Flatiron and Chelsea Districts at 71 West 23rd Street and 6th Avenue, will be offering a fistful of useful discounts and cost savings via on-line coupons and printed vouchers that will be readily available to the blog’s on-line and social media followers, or by distribution to NYCSCC’s patrons at the Conference Center.
Flatiron Hot! and NYCSCC will be working closely with a carefully selected group of Flatiron and Chelsea eateries that try to give “value” a good name in an era when, as the saying goes, “Everything is just too darn expensive!” The first two local vendors to sign on are the exciting new Cajun fast casual restaurant, J. Gumbo’s, and the very popular eatery and bistro, Pergola. Both establishments are just a short walk from NYCSCC’s offices, and are perfect options for Flatiron Hot! readers and NYCSCC attendees.
Expected to be the first of a series of rotating promotional discounts through participating local venues (“The Flatiron Hot! Five Value Discounts! – one for each day of the work week”), these enticing deals mark the first in a developing series of relationships with restaurants, bars, clubs, and cultural venues in Chelsea and the Flatiron District. Flatiron Hot! News will keep you up to date on deals and discounts to come. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves – here is quick rundown on the fabulous establishments participating in this promotion:
First, a little bit about NYCSCC.

J. Gumbo’s is a purveyor of Cajun and Creole cuisines. It is a franchise with locations in multiple states including Alabama, Arkansas, Indiana, Illinois and New York. Its recently opened Flatiron District location is at 61 West 23rd Street, less than a block east of NYCSCC. J. Gumbo’s signature dish, drunken chicken, consist of a hearty mixture of “tender chicken, olive oil, garlic and stewed tomatoes cooked in beer and Cajun spices.” The dish has a nice spicy kick that provides a unique, but not overwhelming, flavor.

Occupying what was once a multi-level flower and floral arrangement specialty warehouse and showroom, Pergola’s unique layout is as much of an attraction as its delectable Mediterranean menu. With 37,000 square feet of space, Pergola is a bar, a hookah lounge and a restaurant. It juggles these three roles in a way that feels completely natural. Each space offers a unique atmosphere (see: the sun and shade rooms) but all are unified by rich dark wood, floral arrangements that change from season to season and brick walls that recall its origins as a flower shop. Pergola offers 14 flavors of hookah, Mediterranean-themed cocktails and a wonderful mezze platter to enjoy before your main course arrives. See for yourself.
