The Flatiron Public Plazas continue to be a hot spot for the latest and greatest products and services–this time, to give a kick-start to the so-called “One-Pan, No Boil, No Drain” quick-serve Barilla Pronto Pasta from Barilla. The latest use of the Flatiron Public Plazas is a cook-off between celebrity chefs Bryan and Michael Voltaggio, as they compete against the clock and each other to whip up their own culinary creations using the Pronto Pasta. Of course, with the hard-working denizens of Flatiron and Chelsea, every second counts in our busy lives, so what location could be better to show off the concept of pasta that you throw in the pot without boiling water and putting them through a colander? Every second counts! Yes, according to what this reporter saw at today’s event, there is no need for those time-intensive efforts, and one would hope, no difference in the taste! Barilla had a master of ceremonies, a camera crew, and lots of interested onlookers watching the action and on hand to taste the final results. According to the staffers, the cook-offs will be going on today until 6 PM, so if you have a chance, stop by the South Plaza, where they have booths, banners, and two cooking stations set up next to a clock to record the contest … don’t miss it! Tweet #OnePanPronto with your pics and videos, no doubt to help get the word out, and maybe win some free pasta. If you can’t make it, check out the fun with these Flatiron Hot! pics and video clips of the action.
