IBM set up shop for the day in the Flatiron Public Plazas, with their staff pitching their Blueworks Live product. I had a chance to stop and chat with some of their staff on the way into the office this morning, and it was a reminder that the biggest and best of the tech firms have not forgotten the art of salesmanship to the masses, and can still press the flesh!
Their product, available for a monthly fee as befits the trend toward cloud services, was billed as “Visio” on steroids – it’s a real-time business process and flow-charting application that banks, financials service companies, insurance firms and the like can use to document their business models. It can be modified and tweaked in real time by the many people that have their hands in it. IBM is taking info from individuals and companies in the Flatiron area – no surprise, as our neighborhood is filled with digital media and and other businesses that could use some help with their business processes – and IBM will follow up with live demos and sales calls.
