Older Adults Technology Services, a non-profit that teaches seniors how to use technology, is introducing Team Senior Planet, a free exercise and fitness program for older adults.
Program registration runs from June 28 through June 30 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Senior Planet Exploration Center in Chelsea. Sessions begin July 18 and meet three times a week for ten weeks.
Certified instructors will lead the group in a mix of aerobic, low-impact, and strength training exercises and will teach proper exercise technique and body awareness. Participants will use a free Fitbit wristband to learn how to track progress and heart rate. All levels of fitness are welcome and Team Senior Planet apparel will be provided.

The sessions will meet at Senior Planet and other nearby locations on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. or Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays 1:30 p.m. – 3 p.m. For full participation, seniors will need to obtain an annual membership to the NYC Parks and Recreation Centers ($25 for those 62+).

Prerequisites: Participants must be comfortable working with computers, have a personal email address, a membership to the NYC Parks Recreation Centers ($25 per year for adults 62+), and a doctor’s recommendation.
