Flatiron Hot! News has posted before about the excellent Belgian addition to New York’s culinary lineup, namely our very own Wafels & Dinges seriers of Kiosks, Carts, and Storefront Establishments! Click here to see our previous post!
Listen up, waffle lovers: the authentic Belgian Waffle joint Wafels & Dinges , founded by native Belgian Thomas DeGeest, has recently debuted a brand new addition to their menu: the “Spekuloos Croissant.” Quite simply, it’s a French croissant infused with delicious Belgian spekuloos spread. The inspiration as well as the goal for this culinary hybrid creation is to extoll the virtues of the European Union and its concept of creative cooperation in these times of “Brexit” and other challenges to the Pan-European ideal! The blending a cultures within this dish is intended to promote Pan-European unity in these times of struggle. To celebrate the debut of this one-of-a-kind treat, it will be receiving a special taste test in Bryant Park at 2:30 this Friday. I myself will be heading over to a nearby W+D stand tomorrow to try the place out for the first time, and then to the taste test on Friday, and I’ll be sure to give my full impressions and tell you if I recommend both the Spekuloos Croissant and Wafels and Dinges in general.
