Gotta Catch ’em All: Pokémon Go in Flatiron

Unless you’ve been living under a giant rock for the past month, you’ve heard about Pokémon Go. Whether you’re playing it or not, you know that this app has blown up the world like nothing else. The game has brought together people who would otherwise never talk to each other. Establishments with PokéStops are seeing increases in business. People are actually getting out of their homes and getting some exercise — all thanks to one little game. The entire world is getting in on the fun, and that of course includes the Flatiron District and Chelsea.
I’ve been playing Pokémon Go for weeks now, and I’ve done plenty of walking around the Flatiron neighborhood. The most common Pokémon in the area seem to be Zubats, Doduos and Pidgeys. But I’ve also encountered others like Polywag, Geodude, and Clefairy. Places like Madison Square Park and Bryant Park are riddled with Pokémon, and there’s no shortage of PokéStops anywhere. A few include the Home Depot on 23rd St, La Mano Pottery, the Masonic Hall at 71 West 23rd Street (Home of NYC Seminar and Conference Center, this blog’s sponsor!), and the Goodwill Wall Mural. There are gyms located in both Madison Square and Bryant Park, as well the Flatiron Building itself!*
Hopefully all you Pokémon Go players out there will find this information useful. So get out there and catch em’ all!
*You don’t to have to actually go inside the Flatiron Building to access the gym.
