You can measure the force of your good left hook as part of the UFC 205 promotion for an upcoming bout, namely the Alvarez-McGregor tussle at Madison Square Garden on November 12. On my way to work today as I “swung by” the Flatiron South Plaza by 23rd Street and 5th Avenue, and had a chance to see Flatiron’s mightiest swinging and punching away on a machine that measures the force of their blows. Yes, there it was – a punching bag hooked up to a sensor and complex array of screens – take a swing at the bag, and you will see your punch ranked up there against your fellow Flatiron denizens on a detailed ranking monitor, complete with a rating relative to all recent participants in the promotion. As I watched, I saw the stalwart and powerful, both men and women, giving it their all.
