Above Ground Concert: Brown Rice Family in Madison Square Park
Reported by Max Shapiro
The performers of this week’s “Above Ground” concert in Madison Square Park were the band Brown Rice Family, The Park’s website describes the band as “a high-energy ensemble that combines an eclectic mix of musical influences, from reggae to funk. With its members hailing from all over the world, Brown Rice Family draws on its diverse backgrounds to set the stage for their unique, rhythm-driven, and highly danceable sound.” And I’ve got to say, this is my favorite band from this line of concerts yet. Seriously, this band’s music was the very manifestation of good vibes. All of their songs were wonderfully uplifting with strong themes of love, unity and optimism, with several audience members getting up to dance along. If you don’t believe me, watch and listen for yourself in the video below.
And don’t miss next Wednesday’s performance by the Affinity Brass Quartet from 12-1 PM.
