Flatiron Public Plaza Holiday Design Competition
Anchoring “23 Days of Flatiron Cheer” is the Flatiron/23rd Street Partnership holiday art installation, selected through the annual Flatiron Plaza Holiday Design Competition in partnership with the Van Alen Institute and permitted through NYC DOT Art. This year, the winning design is Flatiron Reflection by Future Expansion.
The piece is a bundle of shimmering tubes creating a fragmented column at the scale of the public plaza. The fluted perimeter offers niches that can be occupied, while a panoramic central space opens out like a stage into the plaza. The conical interior form cuts out the visual noise of the city to isolate the image of the Flatiron Building and its neighbors on the skyline. For more information about Flatiron Reflection, click here.
Special thanks to Presenting Sponsor Meringoff Properties, Supporting Sponsors 212 Fifth Avenue and Sony Square NYC, as well as Contributing Sponsor Porcelanosa, for making this year’s holiday installation possible.
Flatiron Holiday Installation Launch Event
On Monday, November 20th, the Flatiron/23rd Street Partnership kicked off the holiday season by unveiling Flatiron Reflection and launching its sixth annual “23 Days of Flatiron Cheer” which runs from December 1st – 23rd and features free, holiday-themed events showcasing the intersection of shopping, dining, and culture in the neighborhood. Along with experiencing Flatiron Reflection by Future Expansion for the first time, the event featured a performance by The Jazz Gallery, Shake Shack’s hot chocolate, small bites by ilili BOX, and premium prize wheel prizes from neighborhood businesses. You can read the event recap here.

Presented by the Flatiron/23rd Street Partnership, Flatiron Reflection and the accompanying programming “23 Days of Flatiron Cheer” is made possible with generous support from Presenting Sponsor Meringoff Properties, Supporting Sponsors 212 Fifth Avenue and Sony Square NYC, as well as Contributing Sponsor Porcelanosa.

The Flatiron/23rd Street Partnership also thanks local businesses who are participating in “23 Days of Flatiron Cheer” through the donation of items for the Flatiron prize wheel, social media contests, and the 23 Days of Flatiron Cheer tote bags, hot beverages; performances; fitness classes; and other festive activities on the Flatiron North Public Plaza and around the neighborhood!
