It’s the most wonderful time of the year… it’s that time when we spread holiday cheer! During the holidays in New York City, there is always something to see and do. People travel from all over the world just to spend holidays here. They come for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade, the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting and the biggest of them all, dropping the ball on New Year’s Eve. As we move into the holiday season, the Flatiron/23rd Street Partnership, located in the Flatiron District In New York City, is putting on their annual holiday programming, “23 Days of Flatiron Cheer”.
In the Flatiron Public Plazas from December 1-23 will be entertainment, giveaways and much more! 23 Days of Flatiron Cheer is also an opportunity to support businesses in the neighborhood for shopping, dining and cultural experiences during the holiday season. After leaving your event at NYC Seminar & Conference Center, stop by Madison Square Park to enjoy live performances every Friday and Saturday. Since this is the season for giving, from 12 to 4 pm, hot beverages are served free of charge. Those in attendance will be able to spin the Flatiron wheel to win a gift from a local business. Attendees will also have the opportunity to give back by donating to the holiday food drive at the Food Bank of New York City. Donations for the food drive are accepted in person and online. Also, don’t forget to pick up a 23 Days of Flatiron Cheer tote bag full of neighborhood discounts. These events will take place at the Flatiron North Public Plaza.
Seasons Greetings in Flatiron and Mad Square Park!
The Flatiron Holiday Gift Preview Party will take place Wednesday, December 12th, from 6 to 8 pm. All are invited to Sony Square NYC to celebrate the upcoming movie “Spider-man: Into the Spider-verse.” You can experience the latest Sony Technology while food and beverages are served. Attendees will receive a Sony Square NYC giveaway while supplies last. RVSP details are on the Flatiron District website. On December 17th, from 4 to 8 pm, in celebration of the season of light, the National Museum of Mathematics invites you to witness the joyful reflection of a life-sized kaleidoscope. Make sure you snap your creative holiday selfie while enjoying the festivities. Maintaining your health is very important so don’t forget to join in on winter wellness Wednesdays. You will be given the opportunity to take a free fitness class at one of the Flatiron studios each Wednesday through December 19th. For further information refer to the Flatiron District website.
Holiday Spirit in Flatiron
Flatiron Holiday Cheer wouldn’t be cheerful without this year’s holiday art installation selected through the annual Flatiron Plaza Holiday Design Competition in partnership with the Van Alen institute, permitted through NYC DOT Art. The winner this year is Design Happy by Studio Cadena. Not only does it embody being merry, but it offers a warm and positive embrace for the winter.
