On July 25, 2019, Chelsea opened the first new public park in 40 years. Located on 20th Street between 6th and 7th Avenues, the park is a 5-minute walk from the NYC Seminar and Conference Center. With a playground space and jungle gyms, this park appeals to families with young kids. If you have children, this is the perfect place to bring them after the work day for them to socialize and play. You will have a wonderful opportunity to meet other parents, as well!
The park is a quarter-acre in size, tucked away between commercial and residential buildings. There are trees and greenery throughout the space to make the park feel like an escape from the concrete jungle. There are plenty of benches lining the park that parents and caregivers can sit on to watch their children. On a hot day, children can play in the sprinklers to cool down. To keep everyone safe, there is a fence to delineate the parameters of the park. When I passed by the park on a weekday morning, it was buzzing with parents, caregivers, older siblings and young children. Everyone in the park looked happy and the kids were running around and laughing. Only happy vibes allowed!
